Jeanelle Ray

Jeanelle Armstrong Ray, age 85, of Mansfield, passed away late Wednesday evening, May 10, 2023 at the Heart to Heart Hospice Center in Fort Worth.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 15, 2023 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Matt Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow at Bold Springs Cemetery near West. The family will receive visitors from 1:00 p.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.

Jeanelle was born February 11, 1938 in Monahans, Texas, the daughter of the late Dee and Frances Elder Armstrong. She was a 1956 graduate of Monahans High School where she was voted "Most Beautiful". Jeanelle then went on to Abilene Christian College where she majored in Elementary Education and later received her Masters in Reading Specialties from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. On April 14, 1978 she was united in marriage to Gary Ray in Abilene. Jeanelle was an elementary school teacher for several schools in the Dallas and Abilene areas for over 30 years. She was a member of the University Church of Christ in Abilene, the Delta Theta Sorority, and Texas Teachers Association. She enjoyed playing the piano, reading, and teaching children how to read.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 45 years, Gary Ray of Mansfield; three children, Anne Simpson and husband Scott of South Padre Island, Scott Gale of Mansfield, and Laura Carrillo of Dallas; a brother, Sam Armstrong and wife Linda; grandchildren, Alyssa Munro, Ashley Auldridge and husband Dennis, Allison Murray and husband Jarod, Pida Mathis and husband Ray, Christopher Gale, Jeremy Gale, Parker Carrillo, and Lucas Carrillo; step children, Greg Ray and wife Georgia and Rebekah Ray; step grandchildren, Gary David Ray and wife Deborah, Carson, Caleb, Isabella and London Ray, and Jarrod Hatch and wife Kim; a son-in-law, Pedro Carrillo; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Parker Carrillo, Lucas Carrillo, Mark Armstrong, Dennis Auldridge, Jarod Murray, Ray Mathis, and Greg Ray.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice Inpatient Center in Ft. Worth.

The family would like to thank all of the nursing staff at Heart to Heart Hospice Center for their compassionate and loving care in her final days.
