Janis Ross, age 74, of Waco, passed away early Sunday morning, March 1, 2009 at Wesley Woods Alzheimer's Care Center in Waco. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Jim Gray officiating. The family will receive visitors from 10:00 a. m. Tuesday until service time, also at the Mausoleum Chapel. Mrs. Ross was born November 7, 1934 in Gatesville, the daughter of Jack and Mattie (White) Huddleston. She attended Gatesville and Waco schools and graduated from Waco High School in 1951 before attending 4-C Business College. On May 26, 1951, she was united in marriage to Thomas S. Ross, Sr. in Waco. Janis was a devoted homemaker and housewife. She enjoyed playing dominoes and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Janis was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Crawford. She is preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Jackie Garner; and a special niece, Tammy. Survivors include her beloved husband of 57 years, Thomas S. Ross, Sr. of Waco; two sons, Tommy Ross, Jr. and wife Brandi of Waco and Brett Lee Ross and wife Debbie of Grand Prairie; four grandchildren, Mattie Ross, Mallory Ross, Laura Ross, and Josh Ross; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wesley Woods Alzheimer's Care Center of Waco. The family wishes to thank the staff of Wesley Woods Willow Unit; Dr. John Kosarek; special nurses' Barbara and Karen; and Sue Mock for their wonderful care and attention given to Janis.
