Janell Hardwick

Janell (Willis) Hardwick, age 78, of West, passed away Monday morning, March 20, 2006 at West Rest Haven. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Ministers Neil Cosgrove and Sam Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow at White Rock Cemetery near Ross. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Hardwick was born on November 7, 1927 in West, the daughter of Henry Clinton and Estell Rachel (Herbelin) Willis. She attended schools in West, then Durham Business School and McLennan Community College in Waco. On June 20, 1946, she was united in marriage to Richard O. Hardwick. He preceded her in death on June 16, 1981. She worked as a secretary for Connally I.S.D. for over ten years and then later as a switchboard operator for the Veterans Administration in Waco until her retirement in 1995. Janell loved spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed attending church socials, singing, and reading to the Pre-K and Kindergarten students at the West Rest Haven. In 2003, she was named Kiwanian of the Year in recognition of outstanding service, loyalty and devotion to the West Kiwanis Club Senior Friends of West Rest Haven. She was a member of Elm Mott and West Church of Christ. Two sisters, Ruby Arthur and Myrtle Adair; and five brothers, Dan Willis, Tom Willis, Clint Willis, Cecil Willis and Wendell Willis, also preceded her in death. Survivors include four sons, Mike Hardwick of Austin, Mark Hardwick and wife Debbie of West, Joe Hardwick and wife Cyndy of Coppell, and Jeff Hardwick of Gruene; a sister, Ruth Hardwick and husband Lenard of Waco; nine grandchildren, Merideth Hardwick, Chris "Buck" Hardwick, Jason Hardwick and wife Bobbie Jo, Jana Pratka and husband David, Joni Eubanks and husband Jason, Jonathan Hardwick, Darin Hardwick, Hannah Hardwick, and Molly Hardwick; six great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Pallbearers will be Kenny Willis, Wilburn Willis, Dan Willis, Tom Willis, Don Hardwick, and David Hardwick. Memorials may be made to West Volunteer Ambulance Association or the charity of your choice.
