James Trussell

James Michael Trussell, age 77, of Mount Calm, passed away late Tuesday afternoon, October 22, 2024, the result of an automobile accident near Tours.


Memorial services will be held at a later date.


James was born on August 25, 1947, in Waco, Texas. He was a vibrant figure whose life was filled with family, work, and passions. He grew up in Mount Calm and graduated from Hubbard High School. On August 9, 1976, he married Peggy Tyler in Mount Calm, and they shared a loving life together. A member of the First Baptist Church in Mount Calm, James had a diverse career, working as a tire inspector for General Tire and Rubber Company, contributing to Brown and Root Construction, and later in shipping and receiving for Guardian Industries in Corsicana, where he retired in 1989 after ten years. James had a zest for life, enjoying activities like horse trading, watching westerns, dancing, and attending horse races in Louisiana. He was known for his larger-than-life personality, quick wit, and storytelling ability, always making friends wherever he went. His love for children and family was evident, primarily in his adoration for his grandchildren, great grandchildren (especially Kai and Keaston who were the light of his life), and his one and only great great granddaughter.


James is preceded in death by his parents and a son, Talmadge Dale Richardson.


Survivors include his beloved wife of 48 years, Peggy Trussell of Mount Calm; his children, Mary Jean Isbell and husband Joel of Teague, James Trussell of Waco, Debbie Guinn of Chad, Mark Trussell of Waco, Rena Gassaway and husband Kenneth of Gholson, and Terri Garner and husband Kenneth of Dallas; a brother, Marvin  Trussell and wife Margaret; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, a nephew, many other relatives, and friends.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Mount Calm or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
