James R. Carlile Jr., age 82, of Mt. Calm, passed away early Thursday morning, July 18, 2013 at Providence Hospital in Waco. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Anthony Odiong as celebrant. Military Graveside Rites will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, conducted by the West Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive visitors from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Aderhold Funeral Home. James was born May 25, 1931 in Stillwell, Oklahoma, the son of James R. Carlile Sr. and Millia Mae Ricker. He attended school in Stillwell and was a graduate of Stillwell High School. James served his country with the United States Air Force. On May 22, 1998 he was united in marriage to Bertha Perez in Webb County. James worked as a tire builder for General Tire & Rubber Company in Waco for 31 years until his retirement in 1987. He also was a farmer and did custom hay baling. James was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. He enjoyed barbecuing and working on old cars. He was always there to help others. James is preceded in death by parents; daughter, Glenda Freeman; grandchildren, James "J.D." Carlile and Amanda Macik; a daughter-in-law, Denise Carlile; and a step-son, Feliciano Banuelos. Survivors include his beloved wife of 15 years, Bertha Carlile of Mt. Calm; sons, James Carlile III of Elm Mott, John Carlile and wife Carylon of West, and Frank Carlile and wife Ana of Crawford; daughters, Denise Macik and husband Henry, Elizabeth Polansky and husband Robert, Margaret Gentry, and Sandra Kaiser, all of West; step-son, Mario Gutierrez and wife Dianira; step-daughters, Bertha Macias and husband Victor, Martha Gonzales and husband Ernesto, Adriana Banuelos, and Marie Ibarra and husband Arnold; a sister, Billie Young; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Pallbearers are Daniel Polansky, Kevin Polansky, Robert Polansky Jr., Trent Carlile, Preston Macik and Louis Hajek. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Volunteer Ambulance Association or West Rest Haven Relief Fund.
