James Kirwin Jupe

James Kirwin Jupe Sr., age 76, of West, passed away early Monday afternoon, November 15, 2010 at Greenview Manor in Waco. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home, with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours, with Msgr. Isidore Rozycki as celebrant. Military Graveside Rites will follow at St. Martin's Cemetery, conducted by West V.F.W. Post No. 4819. Mr. Jupe was born July 9, 1934 near Tours, the son of John G. and Gertrude (Holecek) Jupe. He attended St. Martin's School and graduated from West High School in 1953. He served his country with the United States Air Force, active duty for 4 years and 32 years with the Air Force Reserves, retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1990. On November 1, 1975 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth "Betty" Deiterman in Tours. Kirwin worked for General Motors in Arlington for 24 years before he retired in 1991. He was a lifelong member of St. Martin's Catholic Church. Kirwin was also an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 2305; the Catholic Life Branch No. 4, where he served as secretary/treasurer for over 42 years and was Fraternalist Of The Year in 1989; a worker for Tours Hall, where he made sure all refreshments were stocked; a member of St. Martin's Senior Group; and the West Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4819. Kirwin enjoyed gambling, playing bingo, and coaching the Tours Little League Baseball Team the "Tours Rangers". Kirwin is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ralph Jupe; and two sisters, Willie Mae Weissinger and an infant, Clara Jo Jupe. Survivors include his beloved wife of 35 years, Betty Jupe; three sons, James Jupe Jr. and his wife Karen of Hoen, David Jupe and his wife Paula and Michael Jupe, all of West; two brothers, John Jupe Jr. of Clovis, California and Gene Jupe and his wife Reba Joy of West; five sisters, Leona Swatzel of Santa Ana, California, Adele Williams of Lake Providence, Louisiana, Diana Moore of Leroy, Betty Jenson of San Antonio, and Sarah Mandel and her husband Harvey of Ross; a sister-in-law, Erma Lee Jupe of Norman, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Jennifer Jupe Curry and her husband Kody, Nikki Jupe, Jordan Jupe, and Bryan Jupe; two great grandchildren, Korbin and Kolby; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Ricky Jupe, Kevin Jupe, Lyndon Middleton, Brian Jupe, Kody Curry, Jimmy Slovak, Buck Uptmor and Charles Hutyra. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Martin's Catholic Church C.C.E.
