James Beryl Holder, 83, of Waco, Texas passed away on February 22, 2025 at home with his family after a long battle with cancer.
James was born March 10th, 1941, in Osakis, Minnesota. He worked most of his life in agricultural sales and building. His hobbies included spending as much time as he could in his yard and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Both he and the kids looked forward to these weekend get togethers.
Every person he met, he struck up a conversation with and sometimes made them life-long friends. Those that knew him, knew his dry sense of humor is what made him who he was. We never knew if he was joking until he smirked at us. We find comfort in knowing that dad's legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
He is survived by his 4 daughters and their spouses, Denise Ball & Earl, Amy Patton, Lisa Sconce and Becky Morello & Chuck; his 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; along with his 6 siblings, Donald Holder, Greg Holder, Alan Holder, Linda Yose, Jody Pitchford and Sheila Richard. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Ralph and Elvina Holder.
He chose to donate his body to cancer research and requested no funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
I'm Free
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm Free, I'm following a path God laid for me. I took his hand when I heard Him call. I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day to laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way. I found that place at the close of day. If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, ah yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with time of sorrow I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full, I savored much. Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, don't lengthen it now with undo grief. Lift up your heart and share with me. God wanted me now, he set me Free.
