James E. Robinson, Sr.

James E. Robinson, Sr., age 87, of West, passed away Friday afternoon, May 8, 2009 at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. James Jackson and Rev. W. W. Nunn officiating. Military Graveside Rites will follow at Liberty Rest Cemetery near West, conducted by V.F.W. Post 4819 of West. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Robinson was born June 1, 1921 in McLennan County, the son of Fay and Lee Ella (Long) Robinson. He served his country with the United States Army during World War II and was stationed in such places as Guam and Hawaii. He was united in marriage to Mattie Mae Clark in Mart. James was a mechanic for most of his life. He also worked for the Katie and Santa Fe Railroads in Denton and Grapevine. He was a faithful member of the Brown Chapel Methodist Church in Hillsboro. He was also a member of the American Legion Post in Waco. James enjoyed working on cars and fishing. His parents and three brothers, Fay Robinson Jr., J.D. Bibles, and L.T. Bibles preceded him in death. Survivors include his beloved wife, Mattie Mae Robinson of Phoenix, AZ; five sons, James Robinson Jr. and wife Mary of West, Ronnie Robinson and Bobby Don Robinson, both of Phoenix, AZ, Jimmy Ray Robinson of Atlanta, GA, and Keenon Robinson and wife Tangy of Laveen, AZ; four daughters, Virginia Vanley and husband Tommy and Carolyn Bellamy, all of Phoenix, AZ, Ernestine Baker of Waco, and Janice Robinson of Tempe, AZ; 25 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Randy Jackson, Freddie Clater, Freddie Shaw, Robert Benford Jr., Corey Harris, Willie Collier and Michael Harris. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to help with final expenses.
