James Debbendener

James H. Debbendener, age 89, of Leroy, passed away early Friday morning, February 17, 2012 at West Rest Haven in West. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours, with Msgr. Isidore Rozycki as celebrant. Military Graveside Rites will follow at St. Martin's Cemetery conducted by the West Veterans Honor Guard. Mr. Debbendener was born October 4, 1922 near West, the son of Jim and Matilda (Beseda) Debbendener. He attended St. Martin's School. James served his country with the United States Army during World War II. On November 18, 1947 he was united in marriage to Angeline Straten in Tours. James worked for General Tire and Rubber Company in Waco for over 30 years before retiring in 1976. He was a longtime faithful member of St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4819 and the American Legion Post No. 121. He enjoyed auto racing, playing his fiddle, playing dominoes, traveling and watching Texas Ranger Baseball. He especially loved spending time with his family. James is preceded in death by his parents and 13 brothers and sisters. Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 64 years, Angeline Debbendener; two sons, Dennis Debbendener and wife Debbie of West and Calvin Debbendener and wife Terry of Grand Prairie; two daughters, Dolores Larson and husband Eric of Anthem, AZ and Colleen Pratka and husband Ike of Lacy Lakeview; 10 grandchildren, Karen Hill and husband Travis, Crystal Debbendener and fianc James Costello, Jeffrey Debbendener and fianc Sarah Wilcoxson, Jamie Reid and husband Wil, Renee Quigley and husband Michael, Lindsey Kent and husband Justin, Brian Larson, Greg Larson, Clint Pratka and wife Kacie, and Kyle Pratka; 5 great grandchildren and twin boys on the way; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Clint Pratka, Kyle Pratka, Jeff Debbendener, Brian Larson, Greg Larson and Raymond Lucien Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Karen Hill, Crystal Debbendener, Lindsey Kent, Renee Quigley, Jamie Reid and Becky Smetak. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Martin's C.C.E. or St. Martin's Cemetery Association.
