Jack F. Reed Jr., age 86, of El Paso, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 22, 2012 at his residence. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 3, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. A Rosary and Memorial Service was held previously in El Paso. Mr. Reed was born January 4, 1926 in Galveston, the son of Jack F. and Ida (Eiband) Reed. He graduated from Austin High School in 1942. Jack served his country with the United States Army during World War II as a 1st Lieutenant with the 275th Armored Field Artillery, and was discharged in April of 1946. He then attended Law School at the University of Texas in Austin prior to moving to El Paso in 1953. On April 7, 1951 he was united in marriage to Molly Haidusek in Austin. Jack was a faithful and active member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church where he served as a Lector. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 638, a past president of the Institute of Real Estate Management Chapter No. 84, and the Roncalli Club. Jack was a certified Property Manager for 32 years, a former owner and operator of Lucky Boys Hamburgers, a vice president of Property Trust of America and was recently associated with Hiett and Associates. He enjoyed singing in the 1964 International Champion Barbershop Chorus and the Border Chorders from El Paso. Jack was as avid reader, accomplished golfer, and greeted each day with a smile, a cup of coffee and his daily crossword puzzle. He and Molly loved the opera and were actively involved with the El Paso Opera Company for many years. Survivors include his beloved wife of 61 years, Molly Reed; two daughters, Jackie Lynn of Austin and Irene Reed and friend, Karen Winter of Bellevue, WA, their godchild, Julie Phillips Laurel and husband Marty and their children, Bryan Laurel and wife Jen and Leanne Kopras and husband Jarrid; sisters, Joanie Smith and husband Claude and Ida Saunders; brother, Coke S. Reed and wife Sylvia; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
