J. T. "Pipi" Luco, age 80, of Leroy, passed away early Wednesday morning, August 31, 2011 at Providence Health Center in Waco. Memorial services will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in West, with Rev. Jimmy Sansom and Boyce Vardiman officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home. Mr. Luco was born September 11, 1930 in Hoen, the son of Theodore John and Marie Adeline (Benkendorfer) Luco. He attended schools in West and graduated from West High School in 1949. On October 27, 1950 he was united in marriage to Bobbie Lee Roch in West. J.T. was a lineman and installer for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 37 years before retiring in 1987. Prior to that, he also worked for the Leroy Lumber Company and Kozelski Motor Company. J. T. was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in West, where he served on the Board of Directors and as handyman. He was also a member of the C.W.A. Union and the Southwestern Bell Pioneers. He enjoyed woodworking, working in his shop, and was known as a "very talented craftsman". J. T. is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Esther Evans; and a son-in-law, Michael Nors. Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Luco of Leroy; two sons, Jerry Luco and wife Jane of Houston and Jeff Luco of Leroy; three daughters, Susan Sykora and husband Sammy, Paula Cernosek and husband Donald, and Kelly Nors, all of West; three sisters, Ruby Bostrom and husband Warren of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Dorothy Crosswhite of McKinney, and Helen Woolley of Temple; eight grandchildren, Rachel Pickens and husband Lee, Emilie Sykora, Audra Lansdown and husband Trevor, Braxton Luco and wife Erika, Leslie Cernosek, Molly Cernosek, Tiffany Nors, and Kirsten Luco; two great granddaughters, Laynee Rae Pickens and Tenlee Ann Luco, plus one more on the way, Julia Kay Lansdown; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Window Fund.
