Iris Marie (Baca) Vonasek, age 83, of West, passed away early Saturday morning, April 30, 2011 at Providence Health Center in Waco. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at Aderhold Funeral Home, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Mrs. Vonasek was born September 17, 1927 in West. She attended St. Mary's School and graduated from West High School. On July 9, 1947 she was united in marriage to Frank Vonasek in West. He preceded her in death on January 1, 1981. Iris served as a ward secretary for the West Community Hospital for over 20 years until her retirement. She enjoyed playing dominoes, Chinese checkers, Bingo, listening to music and dancing. She loved spending time with her family and friends, and taking care of her pets, especially her dog Britney Ann. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, Catholic Daughter of America Court #829, and K.J.Z.T. Society No. 11. Iris is also preceded in death by her mother, Millie Hlavaty Baca and a great granddaughter, Jaylie Alane Vonasek. Survivors include four sons, Frank Vonasek Jr. of Pownal, ME, Anthony Vonasek and wife Debbie and Charles Vonasek and wife DiAnne, all of Waco, and Patrick Vonasek and wife Janice of Lorena; three daughters, Vicki Bienski and husband Tom of Bryan, Vivian Whatley and husband Darrell of Golinda and Vanette Vonasek of West; 11 grandchildren, Candice Vonasek, Brian Vonasek and wife Jiliane, Charley Vonasek, Anna Vonasek, E. Z. Vonasek, Brenna Vonasek, Beth Vonasek, Jackie Bienski Adamcik and husband Scott, Jennifer Bienski, Mindy Weathers, and Christina Weathers; 3 great grandchildren, Ethan George Nazari, Evan Zachary Adamcik, and Ambry Grace Vonasek; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Brian Vonasek, E.Z. Vonasek, Scott Adamcik, Trevor Beuerlein, Brian Mullen, and Ivan Nazari. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fuzzy Friends Rescue.
