Iris Goldsmith Faglie

Iris (Goldsmith) Faglie, age 86, of Burleson, passed away early Sunday morning, June 23, 2013 at her residence. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church of West, with Dr. John Crowder officiating. Burial will follow at Bold Springs Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West. Iris was born August 26, 1926 in West, the daughter of Leonard Otis and Gladys (Crabb) Goldsmith. She attended schools in West and graduated from West High School. On April 2, 1946 she was united in marriage to Johnnie Allen Faglie in West. He preceded her in death on September 9, 1969. Iris was a homemaker and loved raising a family and spending time with them, especially during the holidays. She enjoyed reading, sewing and was a person that could easily make a friend. Iris is also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Faye Wilcox Helleson; and her aunt, Zona Mae Donohue. Survivors include three daughters, Carol Hendricks and husband Ralph of Cleburne, Cathy Luper and Don Sherman and Deanie Howard and husband Corky, all of Burleson; a son, Johnnie Faglie Jr. and wife Patty of Burleson; brothers, Otis Goldsmith Jr. and wife June and Marvin Goldsmith and wife Naida; a brother-in-law, Tommy Helleson; an honorary sister, best friend, grandmother to her children, Charlie Bell Byers; 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Johnnie Aaron Faglie, Brandon Kemper, Chad Derden, Glenn Spradling, David Stripling, Ron Goldsmith, Lee Goldsmith, and Scott Sparks. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
