Hermina Hattie Svrcek

Hermina "Hattie" Svrcek, age 90, of West, passed away late Monday morning, August 31, 2009 at West Rest Haven. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Anthony Odiong as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Mrs. Svrcek was born January 26, 1919 near Tokio, the daughter of Vaclav Jim and Teresa Grace (Marek) Hynek. She attended school in Tokio and on January 3, 1939 she was united in marriage to J. E. "Elo" Svrcek in West. He preceded her in death on November 20, 1992. Hattie was a homemaker and helped her husband on the family farm. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. Hattie was also a member of the K.J.Z.T. Society #11, Catholic Daughters of America Court #829, and the R.V.O.S. Lodge. She enjoyed quilting, baking kolaches, and caring for her family. Her parents; three brothers, Joseph Hynek, John Hynek and Vaclav Hynek Jr.; a sister, Mary Polansky; and a grandson, Michael Marek; also preceded her in death. Survivors include three sons, Henry F. Svrcek and wife Betty of Bryan, Jim A. Svrcek and wife Pok of Elm Mott, and Alphonse Svrcek of Waco; two daughters, Helen Marek and husband Billy of Austin and Dorothy Dudik and husband Daniel of Palestine; a sister, Christine Beseda of Abbott; a sister-in-law, Irene Hynek of Penelope; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Ambulance Association or St. Mary's School Endowment Fund.
