Henry Slovak, age 87, of Waco, passed away late Sunday evening, February 3, 2019 at Baylor Scott and White Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco. A rosary will be recited 12:00 noon Friday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, followed by visitation until the time of service. Graveside Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 8, 2019 at St. Martin's Cemetery near West, with Msgr. Isidore Rozycki officiating, followed by Military Graveside Rites conducted by West Veterans Honor Guard. Henry was born June 30, 1931 in Abbott, the son of Edward and Frances (Beseda) Slovak. He was a graduate of Itasca High School. On May 5, 1956 Henry was united in marriage to Betty Allen at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Elmira, NY. He served his country with the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellmead. Henry worked for General Tire and Rubber Company in Waco for many years until his retirement. He was a member of SPJST Lodge #66, where he served as president. Henry loved the Northcrest community where he served as Mayor 4 years and was a member of the Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed coaching his children in little league, traveling, and spending time with his family. Henry is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Billy Slovak; and a sister, Janice Marie Richardson. Survivors include his beloved wife of 63 years, Betty Slovak of Waco; children, Julianne Slovak of Wimberley, David Allen Slovak and wife Tessa of Chalk Bluff, Lorri Bolfing and husband Mark of Wimberley, Donald Slovak and wife Lyn of Burleson, and Daniel Edward Slovak and wife Cletha of Waco; grandchildren, Brittni Strauch and husband Josh, Zak Slovak, Bradi Slovak, and Torri Slovak; great-grandchildren, Ari Strauch and Evi Strauch; a brother, James Slovak and wife Malvina; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Josh Strauch, Zak Slovak, Mark Bolfing, Mike Slovak, Torri Slovak, and Bradi Slovak. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels - Lacy Lakeview.
