Henry David Crockett, age 68, of West, passed away early Thursday morning, September 21, 2023 at Providence Hospice Place in Waco.
A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 28, 2023 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Timothy Vaverek as celebrant, assisted by Deacon Ronnie Sykora. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. David will Lie-In-State from 12 noon to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home.
David was born May 26, 1955 in Fort Worth, the son of Robert and Anna (Lupton) Crockett. He was a 1973 graduate of Southwest High School in Fort Worth prior to graduating from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Doctorate in Information Systems. On December 29, 1978 he was united in marriage to Kathleen Johnson in Fort Worth. David proudly served his country in the United States Navy stationed at Norfolk, Virginia. He was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West and the Knights of Columbus Council #10816 in Stephenville. David was a Professor of Systems Analysis at many colleges including Portland State University in Portland, Oregon, Our Lady of the Lake in San Antonio, the University of Texas at Arlington, and Tarleton State University in Stephenville until retiring in 2013. He enjoyed teaching and always stressed how important it was to carry your skills from the classroom to the work environment. David took a special interest in making sure he taught his students to work hard at preparing for the work force. He considered them like his own children and mentored to all of them at school and at home. Computer games were a passion of his and he often played them with his students.
David is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Crockett Jr.; and a sister, Vera Jean Yax.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 45 years, Kathleen Crockett; his mother-in-law, Agnes Johnson; his sisters, Reva Parks and Betty "June" Wiles and her husband Mike; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers are Paul Grant, Tom Tigner, Andrew Johnson, Tony Marshall, Mike Wiles, and Mark Zeske.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
