Henrietta Svacina Kallus, age 91, of West, passed away early Friday morning, December 25, 2009 at Providence Health Center in Waco. A rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m. Monday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, by Msgr. Henry Petter. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott, with Msgr. Henry Petter as celebrant. Burial will follow at Fatima Cemetery near Abbott. Mrs. Kallus was born June 19, 1918 in Abbott, the daughter of John and Mary (Kubala) Petter. She attended the Kirby school and on August 28, 1939 she was united in marriage to Alois Svacina. He preceded her in death on March 14, 1976. She then married Jerome Kallus on October 5, 1985. He also preceded her in death on October 15, 1993. Henrietta worked for the West Community Hospital where she made many friends. She was a homemaker and loved baking cakes for weddings, anniversaries, and birthdays, as well as dozens of kolaches for family holidays. When she visited her sons' homes she always carried a box of kolaches with her. Henrietta was a kind and genuine person with a great sense of humor who loved to laugh. She enjoyed family gathering and holidays, where she was able to bake for and visit with everyone. The family was all very blessed to have her in their lives and she will be dearly missed. Henrietta was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott and the K.J.Z.T. Society No. 104. She is also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Raymond Svacina; and eight brothers and sisters. Survivors include a son, Joe Svacina, and Rene Svacina of Dallas; six grandchildren, Karen Carbonell and husband John, Marian Svacina, Nico Svacina, Rachel Jones and husband Mike, Sylvia Pearson and husband Jeff, and Stephen Svacina and wife Teresa; seven great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
