Henrietta E. Snokhous, age 79, of West, passed away early Monday morning, April 16, 2007 at West Rest Haven. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with the Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Snokhous was born on December 11, 1927, in West, the daughter of Frank J. and Agnes (Gerik) Marak. She grew up in West and attended St. Mary's School. On June 25, 1956 she was united in marriage to Willie Frank Snokhous in Abbott. He preceded her in death on November 11, 1988. Henrietta was a seamstress for the Lorch Manufacturing Company in West for many years before retiring in 1990. Earlier she worked for J.M. Woods Manufacturing in Waco. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. Henrietta was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court No. 829, St. Anne's Altar Society, and K.J.Z.T. Society No. 11. She enjoyed spending time with her sisters and babysitting. She was a special "Nanny" to many children including, Marissa Marak, Tanner Marak, Lauren Scott, Mary Kate Janek, Trey Janek, Cade Rogers, Matt Gerik, Zadie Rankin, and Abby Beseda. Henrietta also enjoyed baking buchtas and kolaches. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending their sporting events. She is also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Arthur Marak, Frankie Marak, Harry Marak, and Stanley Marak; and two sisters, Edith Sulak and Molly Vanzura. Survivors include two sons, David Snokhous and wife Vicki of Houston and Mark Snokhous and wife Tammy of West; one daughter, Debbie Keel and husband Ernie of West; three brothers, Alfred Marak and Bob Marak and wife Mary Ann all of West, and Raymond Marak and wife Janie of Ennis; three sisters, Evelyn Vrbas, Helen Klish, and Rose Kubacak and husband Charles, all of West; two sisters-in-law, Sandra Marak of Greenville, and Agnes Marak of Abbott; one brother-in-law, John Crozier of Arlington; six grandchildren, Heath Keel and Amy Hromadka, Brooke Keel, Paige Snokhous, Kelsey Snokhous, Raegan Snokhous, and Reilee Snokhous; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Pallbearers are Heath Keel, Charles Kubacak Jr., Tim Snokhous, Terry Marak, Daryl Vrbas, and Ronnie Marak. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Parish Center or to St. Anne's Altar Society.
