Helen (Hromadka) Ruetten, age 94, of Elm Mott, passed away peacefully late Thursday morning, June 20, 2024 in Conroe. Helen's life was filled with love, laughter, and a dedication to her family.
A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 27, 2024 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek and Rev. Timothy Vaverek as celebrants. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West.
Helen was born June 10, 1930 in Abbott, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Koval) Hromadka. She attended the old Cottonwood and Leggott schools. On December 29, 1955 she was united in marriage to Tony Ruetten in West. Tony preceded her in death on April 13, 2020. Helen was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. She was also a member of the RVOS Lodge #46, SPJST Lodge #54, Meals-On-Wheels, and the US Air Force Ladies Auxiliaries while Tony served in the Air Force. Helen was a devoted homemaker and also worked for Wolf Manufacturing, Winn's Five and Dime, McCory's, Holt's Sporting Goods, and HEB. She was a master of the dance floor, gracefully twirling to the timeless melodies of polkas and waltzes with her beloved Tony to the tunes of the Jodie Mikula Orchestra and tuning in to Vrazel's Polka Time, a show that captured the essence of her cultural roots and love for music. Helen loved cooking, sewing, gardening, floral designing and ceramics. Her creative works were recognized with numerous blue ribbons at the fair.
Helen is also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Willie Hromadka and Raymond Joe Hromadka Sr.; and a sister, Irene Krizan.
Survivors include her children, Cindy Carlile and husband Lee of Conroe and David Ruetten of Elm Mott; her grandchildren, John Carlile and wife Rachel, Ann Marie Carlile, and Thomas Carlile; a great granddaughter, Melanie Rose Carlile and another great granddaughter on the way; a brother, Joe Hromadka Jr.; a sister, Mary Ann White; sisters-in-law, Ella Ruetten and Maria Ruetten; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers are John Carlile, Thomas Carlile, Raymond Joe Hromadka Jr., James Hromadka, Larry Hromadka, and Bob Cervenka.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Clerical Endowment Fund or the charity of your choice.
