Helen (Hykel) Pustejovsky, age 95, of West, formerly of Chatt, passed away late Saturday afternoon, May 19, 2012 at West Rest Haven in West. A rosary will be recited 7:30 p.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at Fatima Cemetery near Abbott. Mrs. Pustejovsky was born November 25, 1916 in West, the daughter of Louis and Julia (Kallus) Hykel. She attended Alligator Creek and Abbott schools. On October 11, 1937 she was united in marriage to Anton John Pustejovsky in West. He preceded her in death on January 6, 1999. Helen was a homemaker, worked for West Drug for several years, and farmer in the Chatt community for 40 years. She was a former member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott, where she taught CCE. Currently she was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. Helen was a member of the S.P.J.S.T. Lodge No 54; St. Anne's Altar Society; K.J.Z.T. St. Ludmila Society, where she received her 75 year pin; and Catholic Daughters of America #829. Helen enjoyed quilting and made quilts for all of her grandchildren. She also enjoyed canning, playing taroky, and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Helen is also preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Michael Pustejovsky and James Thomas Pustejovsky; a son-in-law, Sam Hurst; a grandson, Jeremy Pustejovsky; a brother, L. A. Hykel; and a sister, Clara Nors. Survivors include three sons, Bernard "Barney" Pustejovsky and wife Lucy and Anthony "Tony" Pustejovsky and wife Beverly, all of Abbott, and Joseph "Joe" Pustejovsky and wife Carolyn of West; three daughters, Helen Mach and husband Ernest of Hillsboro, Bernice Picha and husband Felix of Lacy Lakeview, and Janice Hurst of Lorena; a daughter-in-law, Elaine Pustejovsky of Abbott; two sisters, Leona Taylor of West and Judy Ridlehuber of Abbott; 22 grandchildren, Richard Mach and wife Marcy, Eugene Mach and wife Susan, Patrick Mach and wife Jill, Theresa Anderson and husband Clifford, Kathy Haas and husband Rudy, James Picha and wife Ann, Stephen Picha and wife Mary Jo, Carol VanBeek and husband Martin, Matt Pustejovsky and wife Kathleen, Mark Pustejovsky, Denise Pustejovsky, Gale Taylor and husband Chad, Greg Pustejovsky, Bradley Pustejovsky and friend Dolores Rejcek, Joey Pustejovsky and wife Kelly, Eric Pustejovsky and wife Channa, Scott Pustejovsky, Kyle Pustejovsky, Amy Warren and fianc Brad Russell, Jeffrey Hurst and wife Michelle, Laura Benton, and Sondra Boleman and husband Jesse; 47 great-grandchildren, Rachael McCoy and husband Johnny, Lauren Mach, Allison Mach, James Mach Annalis Mach, Joshua Mach, Jack Mach, Angela Mach, Samuel Mach, Daniel Mach, Sophia Mach, Benjamin Mach, Amy Kennedy and husband Tyson, Jeff Anderson, Jennifer Anderson, Tyler Anderson, Julia Haas, Karl Haas, Aaron Picha, Katie Picha, Grace Picha, Luke Picha, Evan VanBeek, Caleb VanBeek, Derek Pustejovsky, Katelyn Pustejovsky, Brookelyn Taylor, Bayleigh Taylor, Brody Michael Taylor, Jenna Hurst, Kylee Benton, Kolten Benton, Kalli Benton, Samuel Boleman, Brayden Boleman, Christy Grisham and husband Kenney, Courtney Boleman, Parker Pustejovsky, Kayla Bridgeford, Ashley Bridgeford, Beau Bridgeford, Brayden Pustejovsky, Kadence Pustejovsky, Jordan Pustejovsky, Michael Pustejovsky, Hogan Warren, and Brinley Russell; 9 great great grandchildren, Lindsey McCoy, Hailee McCoy, Mason McCoy, Noah McCoy, Olivia McCoy, Hayden Sinkule, Bryson Kennedy, Jaxon Grisham and Breanah Boleman; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are grandsons, Mark Pustejovsky, Kyle Pustejovsky, Bradley Pustejovsky, James Picha, Eugene Mach, Jeffrey Hurst, and Greg Pustejovsky. Honorary pallbearers are all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church Building Fund or West Rest Haven Memorial Fund. The family would like to thank the palliative care and nursing staff of West Rest Haven, Father Ed Karasek, Father Anthony Odiong, Father Boniface Oriface, Father Isidore Rozycki, and all who came to visit during her stay at West Rest Haven. Special thanks to all of her friends for all their love, concern, and prayers while she was ill.
