Helen Picha

Helen Picha, age 94, of West, passed away Friday afternoon, June 11, 2010 at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Picha was born January 14, 1916 in Anderson, the daughter of Joseph H. and Pearl (Gorney) Klodginsky. The family moved to West in 1929 where she attended St. Mary's School. On June 10, 1946 she was united in marriage to Anton J. Picha in West. He preceded her in death on September 2, 1974. Helen was a homemaker and a seamstress. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in West and the K.J.Z.T. Society No 11. Helen enjoyed sewing and quilting. For the past 10 years she has been a resident at West Rest Haven. Her parents; two brothers, John Klodginsky and Tony Klodginsky; and two sisters, Alice Foyt and Mary Hubik also preceded her in death. Survivors include several nephews including, Daniel Foyt and Julius Hubik; several nieces including, Dorothy Harris, Angeline Dowe, and Marcia Linton; and many other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption.
