Helen Mynar

Helen (Pavlas) Mynar, age 97, of Abbott, passed away late Tuesday morning, March 14, 2017 at Providence Hospital in Waco. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 17, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Paul Hudson as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Helen was born March 3, 1920 in Abbott, the daughter of Felix and Millie (Pavlica) Pavlas. She attended Abbott schools. On October 9, 1940 she was united in marriage to Ben Mynar in West. Ben preceded her in death on June 8, 2005. Helen was a Mother, homemaker, helped Ben on the family farm and previously worked for Wolf Manufacturing in West. She was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. She also was a member of Catholic Daughters of America Court #829 and SPJST Lodge 6 Cottonwood. Helen enjoyed gardening, dancing, sewing, painting, canning and listening to Czech music. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Helen is also preceded in death by her parents; a great grandson, Garrett Cinch Rieger; a son-in-law, Wilfred Rieger; brothers, Leo Pavlas and Felix Pavlas Jr.; and sisters, Karoline Kelinske and Lillian Bodine. Survivors include her daughters, Jeanette Rieger of Tours, Bernadette Kutscherousky and husband Tommy, Helen Snider and husband Edward and Gloria Allen, all of West; sons, Bennie Mynar and wife Lillie Marie, Larry Mynar and wife Barbara and Marvin Mynar, all of Abbott; a daughter-in-law, Rose Mynar; a sister-in-law, Lillian Pavlas; Her cat "Smokey"; 28 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren; 15 great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Wilfred Rieger Jr., Garrett Rieger, Bennie Mynar Jr., Larry Mynar Jr., Leland Mynar, Marvin Mynar Jr., Tommy Kutscherousky Jr., Eric Kutscherousky, Shane Snider, Brandy Allen, Tarrah Knust and Farrah Machac. Honorary pallbearers are all her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Providence Hospice or West Volunteer Ambulance Association.
