Helen Margaret Petter

Helen Margaret Petter, age 79, of West, formerly of Abbott and Dallas, passed away late Monday morning, October 24, 2022 at West Rest Haven in West.

The family will have a vigil from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, with a rosary starting at 4:00 p.m. at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12:00 noon Monday, October 31, 2022 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott, with Msgr. Henry V. Petter as celebrant and Msgr. Milam Joseph as concelebrant, assisted by Deacon Ronnie Sykora and Deacon Terry Timmons. Burial will follow at Fatima Cemetery near Abbott.

Helen was born June 10, 1943 in Penelope, the daughter of Jerry and Jannie (Sykora) Petter. She attended Abbott Elementary School. Helen was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Dallas, where she was active with the Catholic Women's Circle. She was also a member of the KJZT Society in Dallas. She worked for the Citizen's Development Center in Dallas for over 20 years for various businesses including, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Pizza Hut, Medical City, Salvation Army, Mary Kay and Taco Bell. Helen enjoyed making beaded jewelry, playing bingo, participating in all the activities and attending Mass at West Rest Haven, and listening to Czech music, especially her brother Alois on his accordion. She loved spending time with her family.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Jerry and Jimmy Petter; a sister, Mary Jo Petter; and a brother-in-law, John Sodek.

Survivors include her siblings, Alois Petter and wife Bernice of West, Lillian Sodek of Waco, Msgr. Henry V.  Petter of Coppell, Sophie Edmondson and husband Bob of Royse City, and Anthony "Tony" Petter and wife Theresa of Ft. Worth; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Darrell Petter, Stephen Edmondson, Jerry Petter, Price Clifford, Michael Hart, and Richard Buerkle.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Rest Haven Memorial Fund.
