Helen Detterman

Helen Fay Detterman, age 84 of Robinson, passed away early Saturday morning, June 16, 2007 in Waco. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Monday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Leibham officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Mrs. Detterman was born October 5, 1922 in Waxahachie, the daughter of James and Ollie (Day) Vestal. She attended schools in Waxahachie. Helen was united in marriage to Herbert A. Detterman on January 4, 1941 in Waxahachie. They lived in West before moving to Corpus Christi in 1952. While there she worked for The Mend It Shop in the early 1960's where she learned the embroidery trade. In 1972 they moved to Austin for three years before moving to Robinson. She was a seamstress and owner and operator of H & H Embroidery Shop in Waco for over 25 years before retiring in 2005. Helen was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Waco. Helen is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, James Vestal and George Vestal. Survivors include her beloved husband of 66 years, Herbert A. Detterman of Robinson; a daughter, Gloria Jean Detterman of West; a son, Ron J. Detterman and wife Judy of Lacy Lakeview; a brother, Charles Vestal of Waco; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Pallbearers are Kenneth Maler, Woody Green, Clifford Perkins, Berry Cox, Melvin Jares, and Bruce Armstrong. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
