Hazel Rainer Lane, age 82, of Groesbeck, formerly of West, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2007 at Providence Health Center surrounded by family. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West, with Dr. John Crowder officiating. Burial will follow at White Rock Cemetery near Ross. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Lane was born on November 17, 1924 in Zwolle, Louisiana, the eldest of eight children born to Tom and Lena (Michele) Procell. On March 25, 1940, she was united in marriage to Herbert Rainer in Bellmead. He preceded her in death on October 28, 1980. They were in the military so Herbert and Hazel traveled many places. She received her nursing training at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington D.C. and later moved to the Waco area and worked at Providence Health Center until her retirement. On May 17, 1999 she was united in marriage to Edmond Lane in Marlin. Edmond built Hazel her dream home and they enjoyed eight years together, despite her constant illness. Hazel was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star and devoted her time to senior citizens by singing at area nursing homes. She is also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and four brothers. Survivors include her husband Edmond Lane of Groesbeck; a son, Crockett Rainer and wife Sharon of West; a daughter, Carolin Masters of Dallas; a brother, Joe Procell of AK; a granddaughter, Michelle Carr of The Woodlands; a great-granddaughter, Kaylyn Carr of The Woodlands; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Pallbearers will be Aaron Gustafson, Richard Gustafson, Joey Dvoracek, Bimbo Hand, and John Steinke. The family would like to express a special thank you to Sharon Barnum for her constant care and nursing to Hazel.
