Hattie Slovak

Hattie Slovak, age 79, of Abbott, passed away early Sunday morning, June 9, 2013 in Hillsboro. A rosary will be recited 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home by Gladys Jares, with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott with Rev. Ouseph Thekkumthala as celebrant, assisted by Deacon Denver Crawley. Burial will follow at Fatima Cemetery. Hattie was born June 22, 1933 in Abbott, the daughter of Emil J. and Emily "Molly" (Pavlas) Vybiral. She attended Abbott schools. On June 15, 1953 she was united in marriage to Johnny Ray Slovak in Abbott. Johnny preceded her in death on December 20, 2003. Hattie worked for the Abbott Independent School District for over 30 years as a Librarian Aide prior to retiring in 2004. She also worked for Martin McDonald's, Lintz, and Kress Department Stores in Hillsboro. She was a lifelong faithful member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott. Hattie was also a member of the Texas Retired Teachers Association, Catholic Daughters of America in Hillsboro and the K.J.Z.T. Society #104 where she served as a former president and youth director. She enjoyed dancing, sewing, and especially loved spending time with her family and the children at Abbott schools. Hattie is also preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Katherine Ann Slovak; and a sister, Albina Pibil. Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Pustejovsky and husband Anthony of Abbott; a son, Jimmy Slovak of Abbott; grandchildren, Eric Pustejovsky and wife Channa, Amy Lenart and fianc, Brad Russell, Scott Pustejovsky, Kyle Pustejovsky, Molly Slovak and Michael Slovak; great grandchildren, Jordan, Michael, Brayden, Hogan, Kadence, Brinley and Railey; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Anthony Jares, Richard Polansky, Kevin Scheler, Gregory Vybiral, Justin Slovak, Kyle Pustejovsky & David Syrinek. Honorary pallbearers are Melvin & Gladys Jares, Willie Mae & Sam Polansky, Shirley Blanchard, Patsy & Jimmy Makovy, her Grandchildren and her Great Grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the West Rest Haven Disaster Relief Fund, Abbott I.S.D. Library or the charity of your choice.
