Harry Kocurek

Harry A. Kocurek passed away on July 16, 2024 in Edmond, Oklahoma. The tenth of ten children of Adolph Joe and Caroline Wilma (Kolar) Kocurek, he was born on August 23, 1948 in Hillsboro, Hill County, Texas. Harry's grandparents were Anton and Anna (Orsak) Kocurek and Frank and Frances (Pustejovsky) Kolar.

A rosary will be recited 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West followed by a Memorial Service beginning at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive visitors at 9:30 a.m. before all service times begin.

After graduating from Itasca High School in 1966, he completed his studies at Hill Community College in Hillsboro, Texas in 1968. In 1970 he earned his BBA from the University of North Texas in Denton. He later received his Master degree in Theological Studies at the University of Dallas in Irving, Texas in 1990 and his Doctor of Ministry Degree in Applied Ministry in 1992.

Harry held administrative positions at West Community Hospital and Lewisville Hospital (now called Medical City Lewisville). He was a Pastoral Associate at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edmond, Oklahoma from 1995 to 2020. Harry was a member of St. Joseph Old Cathedral in Oklahoma City, the Catholic Union of Texas (KJT), and held the 3rd and 4th Degrees in the Knights of Columbus. He was a very active volunteer of many civic, professional, and church organizations.

Harry also served in the United States Army where he received training as an Intelligence Analyst at Fort Holabird, Maryland.

Harry is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Albert Frank Kocurek and Jerry Steve Kocurek; and six sisters, Ann Marie Kocurek, Leona Ann Smajstrla, Lillie Ann Sellers, Eleanor Adel Grmela, Christine Caroline Polansky and Edith Frances Wagner.

Harry is survived by one brother Edwin A. Kocurek; and many nephews and nieces.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edmond, Oklahoma or the Charity of your choice.
