Harold R. Sexton, age 57, of Abbott, passed away Sunday morning, June 22, 2008 at his residence. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 11:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home. Harold was born on March 8, 1951 in West, the son of Ray and Marie (Maler) Sexton. He attended St. Mary's School and graduated from West High School in 1969. On July 10, 1970, he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Sembera in Mexico. Harold worked for General Tire and Rubber Co. for 13 years, and was owner and operator of the Hillsboro Pawn Shop for over 25 years until 2008. He also owned Hillsboro Bail Bonds for several years. Harold loved hunting and riding his Harley. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and served on the Board of Directors of the Central Texas Rifle and Pistol Club, where he also served as Rangemaster at competitions. Harold was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption and the Harley Owners Group Waco Chapter. Survivors include his beloved wife of 37 years, Mary Ann Sexton of Abbott; a son, Harold Ray Sexton, Jr. and wife Julie of Gholson; a daughter, Michelle Rene Steele and husband William of Abbott; his parents, Ray and Marie Sexton of Abbott; his mother-in-law, Adel Sembera of West; a sister-in-law, Jaroline Kolar of West; a brother-in-law, Alvin Sembera and his wife Dorothy of Gerald; eight grandchildren, Tiffany, Brandon, Brittany, Amanda, Samantha, Keila, Kearstyn and Kylie; one great-granddaughter, Jayla; his cat, Casper; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Active pallbearers will be Charles "Chuck" Miller, Rex Falkenberg, Bill Russell, Fran Barletta, Charles Lesley, Curtis Lesley, Eric Ponde, and Mike Parsons. Honorary pallbearers will be his nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Parish Center or to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
