Harold D. Parker, age 89, of Chalk Bluff, transitioned from this life early Saturday afternoon, October 10, 2015 at his residence. Graveside services will be held 3:00 p.m. Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Moore Cemetery in Chalk Bluff, with Rev. Terry McElrath officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home. Harold was born March 19, 1926 in Lott, the son of the late Sam E. and Gertrude (Morris) Parker. He attended schools in Lott. On December 21, 1945 he was united in marriage to Harriet Sparks in Waco. He had a long career with General Tire and Rubber Company for over 43 years before retiring in 1985. During those years, he and his family were transferred to many cities and countries including, Iran, Mexico, Portugal, Tanzania and Mozambique. After retirement they moved back to their home in Chalk Bluff. Harold was a beloved husband, father, uncle, friend and animal lover. Anyone who has visited his home understands the extent of his devotion to animals. Harold touched so many lives through his selfless acts of kindness and generosity to family and friends and quite often to strangers he encountered in need of a little help. Survivors include his beloved wife, Harriet Parker of Chalk Bluff; two sons, Gary Parker and wife Betty of Arlington and Brian Parker of Plano; his granddaughter, Michelle Parker; sisters, Bobbie Morrison and Catherine Crane and husband Jack; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Elm Mott Volunteer Fire Department, 314 W. Elm Mott Drive, Elm Mott, TX 76640, to the McLennan County Sheriff's Department, 901 Washington Avenue, Waco, TX 76701 or to the animal shelter or rescue of your choice. Pallbearers are Jay Fredrich, Glenn Morrison, Robert Fredrich, Michael Fredrich and John J. Fredrich.
