Gregory Uptmore

Gregory Uptmore, age 68, of West, passed away early Saturday evening, September 13, 2014 at Providence Hospice Place in Waco. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours, with Rev. Michael Ajewole as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Martin's Cemetery. Mr. Uptmore will lie in state at the funeral home, however no formal visitation will be held. Gregory was born January 6, 1946 in Waco, the son of Ben A. and Josephine (Schroeder) Uptmore. He attended St. Martin's School and West High School. Gregory was a aircraft painter for L-3 and Raytheon in Waco for 25 years before retiring. He was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church of Tours. Gregory enjoyed restoring antique cars, dancing, taking care of animals and farming. He especially loved listening to Polka music. Gregory is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Benjamin "Ben" Uptmor; a sisters, Angeline Sottman and Rosalie Uptmore; and a brother-in-law, Bill Enlow. Survivors include a son, Chris Uptmore and wife Tracey of Kyle; a daughter, Jennifer Uptmore of Austin; a granddaughter, Kaitlin Uptmore; a brother, Kenneth Uptmor and wife Dorothy; sisters, Marion Glass and husband J.T. and Alma Enlow; a brother-in-law, Kurt Sottman; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Brian Enlow, David Land, Aubrey Uptmor, Larry Land, Ralph Pustejovsky and Eugene Dudik. Honorary pallbearers are Manuel Ramon, Jr. and his co-workers at L-3. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
