Glenn Robert Ellison, age 79, of West, passed away Wednesday evening, October 3, 2007 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Rev. Bob Briles, Rev. John Crowder and Rev. Kenneth Stevens officiating. Military Graveside Rites will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery near West, conducted by V.F.W. Post No. 4819 of West. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Ellison was born on October 28, 1927 in Itasca, the son of Charlie Abraham and Ola Mamie (Allen) Ellison. He attended elementary school in Rockwall and graduated from Itasca High School in 1945. He graduated from Hillsboro Jr. College receiving an Associates of Art Degree. He then attended Texas Tech, Navarro Jr. College and graduated from East Texas State University receiving his Bachelor of Science and a Masters Degree in Administrative Education. He was accepted in the Doctorate Progam at Baylor University. In serving his country, he joined the United States Navy during World War II from 1945 to 1947 aboard the USS Union 106 and the Mt. McKinley AG7. On June 20, 1953, he was united in marriage to Jane Margaret Major in Milford. He worked as an agriculture teacher for Moran and Maypearl Independent School Districts, as a science teacher and superintendent for Penelope Independent School District and superintendent for Poteet Independent School District until his retirement in 1980. In teaching he also taught three years at Ranger Jr. College. Glenn enjoyed the outdoors and loved to farm, fish and hunt. He especially loved to spend time with his family and grandchildren. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 524 in Maypearl, Scottish Rite Karem Shriners in Waco, a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 2758 of Itasca, a lifetime member of the Texas School Administrators and the First Baptist Church in West. He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Hollis Ellison, J. C. Ellison and Aaron Ellison; and one sister, Dorothy Aldridge. Survivors include his beloved wife of 54 years, Jane Ellison of West; two sons, Charles Brent Ellison of Livingston and Randall Glenn Ellison and wife Mary of Mt. Calm; one daughter, Melanie Jane Teague and husband Dave of North Richland Hills; one brother, Albert Ellison of Hillsboro; one sister, Naomi Bailey of Hillsboro; five grandchildren, Shea Davis and husband Mike of Schulenburg, Glenn Brent Ellison of Mt. Vernon, Deandra Stubblefield and husband Matt of Keller; Krista Teague and Jarrett Teague of North Richland Hills; one great-grandson, Ashton Davis; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers will be Rick Sullins, Harry Marak, Don Schneider, Dale Dunlap, Brent Petty and John Chaney. Honorary pallbearers will be Jake Tucker, Raymond Snokhous, Delmer Sullins, Alvin Gehrels, Alton Pratka and Manuel Martinez. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, Lake Whitney Baptist Church, Bluebonnet Healthcare and Hospice or charity of your choice.
