Gladys M. Barton

Gladys M. Barton, age 88, of Bellmead, passed away Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Providence Health Center in Waco. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Rev. Craig Klempnauer officiating. Burial will follow at West Brethren Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Barton was born July 12, 1924 near West, the daughter of Raymond R. and Stella M. (Holder) Prause. She attended schools in West and was a graduate of West High School. On February 21, 1943 she was united in marriage to Raymond V. Barton in Temple. Ray and Gladys owned and operated Barton Grocery in Bellmead. After entering a contest, Gladys won tuition to Beauty School. Upon completion, she opened and operated Marie's Beauty Shop. Later, she worked at TRGA and Fab-Knit Manufacturing until retiring to enjoy square dancing and traveling with Ray. They enjoyed 59 wonderful years together until his death on February 23, 2002. Gladys knew Jesus as her personal Savior. She was a member of Grace Temple Baptist Church and loved her church family dearly. Gladys is also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Cleo; and a sister, Mildred. Survivors include a daughter, Sandy Barton of Waco; two sons, Dennis Barton and wife Patty of Russellville, AR and Larry Barton and wife Karen of Burleson; grandchildren, Corey Barton and wife Kendra, Randy Barton, Amy Powell and husband Darrell, Courtney Hetzer and husband Ryan, Eric Barton and Amanda Barton; 13 great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Joe J. Barton; a sister-in-law, Esther Tlustos; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Corey Barton, Ryan Hetzer, Eric Barton, Jacob Gonzales, Robert Dedeluk, Bobby Tlustos and Wayne Tlustos. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Temple Baptist Church. The family wishes to thank the Station 3 Staff of West Rest Haven for their care and compassion.
