Gladys Jeannette "Billie" Borger, age 87, of West, slipped peacefully into the arms of her loving Savior late Wednesday morning, December 29, 2010 at West Rest Haven in West, Texas. Memorial Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in West, with Dr. John Crowder officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Ottumwa, IA. Mrs. Borger was born July 31, 1923 in Altoona, Iowa, the daughter of Theodore Jay and Mara Winifred (Claver) Turner. She received her education in Chariton, IA and attended college at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnias, IL. On September 18, 1943, she was united in marriage to Harold R. Borger in Chariton, Iowa. He preceded her in death on June 3, 1978. This union resulted in the birth of three daughters and three sons. Billie raised her family in the Chariton, Mystic, Blakesburg, and Ottumwa areas of Iowa. She was a member of the Nazarene Church of Ottumwa. Her accomplishments were vast and varied. Billie was an amazing piano player and was happy to share that talent playing for her church. She also was very gifted in handiwork, namely crocheting and knitting. She had a love for people and was a servant by nature. Billie and her husband were effective in the lives of many foster children over the years and she used her skills in caring for other people who were shut in and in need of care. Her parents; two daughters, Christine Joy and Cynthia J. Kaestner; a sister, Sally Long; and two infant grandsons, also preceded her in death. Survivors include her children, Leslie Orman and husband Bill of Ottumwa, IA, John Borger and his wife Shela of West, Rev. Theodore R. Borger of Verona, WI, and Sam Borger and wife Debra of West; a son-in-law, Donnie Kaestner of Ft. Worth; a brother, Ed Turner of San Luis Obispo, CA; 16 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Borger Family at 1445 Brickyard Road, West, TX 76691.
