Gertrude M. Kozina, age 89, of West, passed away early Sunday morning, November 18, 2012 at West Rest Haven in West. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Mrs. Kozina was born August 6, 1923 in Kewaunee, WI, the daughter of Joseph and Katherine (Kazmerezek) Glyzewski. She attended schools in Kewaunee. In 1942 Gertrude was united in marriage to Martin J. Kozina in Denmark, WI. Martin preceded her in death on December 13, 1976. Gertrude was a homemaker and Mother. She also worked as a seamstress for Wolf Manufacturing in West for ten years before retiring in 1986. Gertrude was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption and the K.J.Z.T. Society #11 in West. She enjoyed reading, working word search puzzles and baking. Grutrude is also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Betty Gilman; two brothers, Joe Glish and Leo Sager; and a sister, Vera Knipp. Survivors include a son, Donald Kozina and wife Juanita of Liberty; six grandchildren, Martin Kozina, Alexandra Kozina, Daniel Kozina and fianc Amy, Christine Kozina, Ronald Gilman and Colleen Talley and husband Kirk; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Donald Kozina, Devon Kozina, Martin Kozina, and James Grimminger. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
