Georgia Mary Lyons

Georgia Mary (Dulak) Lyons, age 85, of West, passed away Friday December 30, 2011 at The Plaza Nursing Home in Richardson. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Bishop David E. Fellhauer, Rev. Ed Karasek and Rev. Michael Lyons as celebrants. Private graveside services will be held at Rosemound Cemetery in Waco. The family will receive visitors from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Aderhold Funeral Home. Mrs. Lyons was born February 3, 1926 in Elk, the daughter of August and Mary Ann (Morris) Dulak. She attended the Cottonwood school and graduated from West High School in 1943 prior to attending Baylor University and Draughn's Business College. On June 5, 1948 she was united in marriage to John F. Lyons in Waco. He preceded her in death on February 15, 1971. Georgia owned and operated the Playdium Swimming Pool in West from 1973 to 1988. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, where she served on the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults Team. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court No. 829 and the S.P.J.S.T. Lodge No. 54. Georgia enjoyed reading and traveling. She especially loved visiting with her children and spending time with her family and friends. Georgia is also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Edwin Dulak. Survivors include two sons, Rev. Michael J. Lyons of Ganado and Tim Lyons and wife Teresa of Richardson; a daughter, Mary Fletcher and husband Martin of Haledon, New Jersey; a sister, Frances Poteet of El Paso; two granddaughters, Holly and Emily Lyons; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Mark Poteet, Florentino Perez, Martin Fletcher, Christopher Massey, John R. Poteet and Michael Matus. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Senior Center or Catholic Daughters of America Court #829 of West.
