George W. Shilling

July 20, 1917 — April 16, 2010

George W. Shilling, age 92, of Elm Mott, passed away early Friday morning, April 16, 2010 at Providence Health Center in Waco. Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Martin's Cemetery near Tours, with Msgr. Isidore Rozycki officiating. Mr. Shilling was born July 20, 1917 in Eddy, the son of George M. and Winnie (Honnell) Shilling. He attended schools in Eddy and was a graduate of Eddy High School. On March 10, 1967 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Mae Uptmore in Hillsboro. George served his country with the United States Army during World War II. He was a bookkeeper for the William Cameron company in Waco for over 45 years before retiring. He was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours. George enjoyed gardening. His parents; a brother, James Shilling; and a step-son, William A. Chudej; preceded him in death Survivors include his beloved wife of 43 years, Dorothy Shilling of Elm Mott; a step-son, Robert E. Chudej and wife Linda of Lufkin; a step daughter, Elizabeth Hastings of Ft. Worth; a sister, Nettie Jean; three grandddaughters, Laura, Kelly and Heather; two great granddaughters, Beckie and Alex; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Randy Shilling, Bobby Shilling, David Uptmore, Andy Uptmore, Randy Noe, and Carl Zylstra. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Martin's Catholic Church.
