George R. Dinwiddie

August 6, 1927 — March 15, 2007

George Randall Dinwiddie, age 79, of West, went to be with the Lord Thursday afternoon, March 15, 2007 at West Rest Haven. Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday at Rose Hill Cemetery in Tyler, with Rev. Pat Mallory officiating. Mr. Dinwiddie was born August 6, 1927 in Post, Texas the son of A.K. "Pal" and Bess Dinwiddie. He grew up in Post and graduated from Post High School in 1944. He moved to Clear Lake, Oklahoma in the mid 1940's where he met and married Rita Pauline Farrell. He served in the U. S. Army Battery A, 319th Glider Field Artillery Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division, Ft. Bragg, North Carolina as a paratrooper during World War II. In the early 1970's, he moved his family to Tyler where he founded the East Texas Coffee Service. "G.R." was a former member of the Lions Club and Walter Fair Methodist Church. Mr. Dinwiddie was a recent resident of the West Rest Haven Nursing Home. He is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife Rita Farrell Dinwiddie; and two sisters, Nita Roe Harvin and Molly Jean Lowerie. Survivors include a son, C.P. Dinwiddie; two daughters, Cheryl McInnis and her husband Keith, and Amy Hunter; a brother, Mack Dinwiddie; a granddaughter, Jennifer Regalado and her husband Juan; a grandson, J.J. Skinner and wife Ashley; seven great grandchildren, C.J., Jessica, Adriana, Nicolas, Jordan, Zane, and Ethan. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or the First Baptist Church of Tyler Youth Camp Fund.
