George Grones

George Grones, age 81, of Elm Mott, passed away early Saturday morning, July 31, 2021 at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Hospital in Waco. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Rev. Terry McElrath officiating. Graveside services will follow at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Chapel Hill Memorial Park in Waco. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. George was born March 22, 1940 in West, the son of Louis and Emilie (Gerlich) Grones. He was a 1958 graduate of Connally High School. On November 27, 1993 he was united in marriage to Delores Scheler Fitzgerald in Elm Mott. He was a foreman and superintendent for several area construction companies including William Cameron, Fred Williams Construction, BTH Construction and Barsh Construction until retiring in 2002. He also worked for Grones Environmental. George enjoyed horseback riding, going on trail rides, working on his tractor, playing golf, riding motorcycles, and boating. He loved spending time with his family and dogs. George is also preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Irene Kallus; and brothers, Paul, Edward, Raymond, and Arnold Grones. Survivors include his beloved wife of 28 years, Delores Grones of Elm Mott; a son, Kevin Grones and wife Helen and a daughter, Rene Kolar and husband Adolph, all of West; step children, Richard Bowen and wife Melanie, Donna Bowen, and Janet Bowen Notes and husband Randy; grandchildren, Tonya Kolar, Janna Roller and husband Andy, Patricia Hajovsky and husband Christopher, and Eddie Kaluza; great grandchildren, Kaleb Kaluza, Emmalie Kaluza, Madelyn Kolar, and Mallory Roller; step grandchildren, Matthew and wife Jessica, Kara, Nicole, Heather, Odessa, Sequoia, Jackson, Maddie, and Lily; step great grandchildren, Hayden and Forrest; a sister-in-law, Clara Grones; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Ronnie Grones, Donnie Grones, Jimmy Scheler, Christopher Hajovsky, Ricky Grones, and Glenn Grones. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Waco Humane Society.
