George A. Soukup

George A. Soukup, age 69, of West, passed away early Sunday morning, November 5, 2006 at Providence Health Center in Waco. A rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m. Monday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel by Janice Kaluza. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery near West. Mr. Soukup was born on April 11, 1937 in McLennan County, the son of George J. and Albina (Picha) Soukup. He attended school in Aquilla, Tokio, Tours and St. Mary's in West. After attending school he worked for Young Brothers Construction, Westex Welding and Burlington Mills. On October 6, 1962, he was united in marriage to Elleen Helen Matus in West. He worked as a maintenance supervisor at Tymco Inc. in Waco for thirty-one years until his retirement in 2001. George enjoyed fishing, restoring his '55 Chevy Bel Air, his '70 Chevy pickup, gardening (vegetables and flowers), working as a bartender at Lone Star Hall so he can mingle with everyone, listening to Czech music, drinking pivo, and watching Westerns, Lone Ranger, Walker Texas Ranger and the antique tractor shows. He loved to BBQ for his family, vacationing with his wife, fixing up bicycles for his grandchildren and spending time playing with them. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, K.J.T. # 31, S.P.J.S.T. Lodge No. 54 and West Sokol. Survivors include his beloved wife of 44 years Elleen (Matus) Soukup; his daughters, Lisa Nors and husband Edward Nors Sr., Donna Webre and husband David, Jennifer Dudik and husband Joey, and Tammy Neill and husband Kevin, all of West; two sisters, Irene Peterson and husband Milton of Malone and Ann Berger of West; one brother, Edward Soukup of West; eleven grandchildren, E. J., Misty, Jeremy and Alicia Nors, Justin, Emilie and Ashlee Webre, Joey, Jacob, and Jordan Dudik, and Kenzie Neill, all of West; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are E. J. Nors, Jeremy Nors, Justin Webre, Joey Dudik, Patrick Matus, Kenneth Peterson and Jacob Dudik. Honorary pallbearers are Misty Nors, Alicia Nors, Emilie Webre, Ashlee Webre, Jordan Dudik, Kenzie Neill and Brian Kaska. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church Building Fund or to the charity of your choice.
