George A. Mann, D.D.S., age 89, of West, formerly of Waco, passed away late Monday evening, November 4, 2013 at Quality Care in Waco. Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Dr. John Crowder officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Dr. Mann was born March 10, 1924 in Lufkin, the son of Dr. David and Blanche (Scott) Mann. He was a graduate of Lufkin High School. He also graduated from Sam Houston University and then the University of Texas in Galveston with a Dental Degree. In serving his country, George joined the United States Navy and Marines and served during World War II. On July 24, 1974 he was united in marriage to Jeanne Ruth Gregg in Waco. George worked as a dentist his entire life until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in West and a former member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Waco. George is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charles S. Mann; and a daughter-in-law, Amy Mann. Survivors include his beloved wife of 39 years, Jeanne Gregg Mann of West; three sons, Charles Douglass Mann, George A. Mann Jr. and wife Cindy, and David W. Mann and wife Kelly, all of Waco; a stepdaughter, Alison Hurtick and husband John of West; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Rest Haven Disaster Relief Fund or to the charity of your choice.
