George A. Kaska, Sr.

November 30, 1926 — February 25, 2011

George A. Kaska, Sr., age 84, of Abbott, passed away early Friday morning, February 25, 2011 at his residence. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel by Janice Kaluza, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott, with Rev. B. George and Rev. Stephen Nesrsta as celebrants. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery near West. Mr. Kaska was born November 30, 1926 in West, the son of Joe and Mary (Picha) Kaska. He attended St. Mary's and Alligator Schools. George served his country with United States Army with the Medical Corp. On September 26, 1953 he was united in marriage to Anna Hajek in Abbott. George worked for General Motors for 15 years and was a farmer until his retirement in 1988. He enjoyed gardening, tending to his cattle, playing dominoes, and playing taroky. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. George was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, where he served on the Parish Council and the cemetery board. He was also a member of the K.J.T. Society #107 in Abbott, R.V.O.S. Lodge in Cottonwood, Menlow Water Board, and American Legion Post #478. George is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Pavlas; and two brothers, Bob Kaska and Albert Kaska. Survivors include his beloved wife of 57 years, Anna Louise Kaska of Abbott; two sons, George Kaska, Jr. and wife Mairi, of Abbott and Richard A. Kaska and wife Wendy of Whitney; three daughters, Louise Sullins and husband Rick and Dolores Tufts and husband Barry, all of Abbott and Chris Kocian and husband Gus Jr. of West; a brother, Laddie Kaska of Arlington; 12 grandchildren, Jason Sullins and wife Stephanie, Arron Sullins, Amanda Kettler and husband Blake, Kyle Kaska Natalie Kaska Matthew Tufts, Lauren Tufts, Macy Kaska, Nolan Kaska, Logan Kaska, Michael Kocian, and Kevin Kocian; a great grandson, Connor Sullins; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are his grandsons, Jason Sullins, Arron Sullins, Kyle Kaska, Matthew Tufts, Nolan Kaska, Michael Kocian, and Kevin Kocian. Honorary pallbearers are his granddaughters, Amanda Kettler, Natalie Kaska, Lauren Tufts, Macy Kaska, and Logan Kaska. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church or Providence Hospice.
