Gene Ryno, age 90, of Aquilla, passed away early Wednesday morning, January 3, 2018 at Town Hall Estates in Hillsboro. Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 5, 2018 at Prairie Grove Cemetery near Aquilla, with Dr. John Crowder officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home. Gene was born July 31, 1927 in Aquilla, the son of G.E. and Willie (Whalen) Ryno. He attended schools in Aquilla. Gene served his country with the United States Merchant Marines just following World War II. On March 20, 1948 he was united in marriage to Betty Clements in Hillsboro. Betty preceded him in death on September 20, 2003. Gene was a farmer and rancher all his life until retiring in 2013. He was a member of the Aquilla Volunteer Fire Department. Gene enjoyed hunting and fishing. He especially loved spending time with his family and tending his cattle on the farm. Gene is also preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Justin Ryno; a sister, Gloria Dugan, brother-in-law, Donald Horn and James Dugan; and a nephew, Mike Horn. Survivors include his children, Tommy Ryno and wife Davella of Kerrville, Randy Ryno and wife Pam of West and Diane Myers and husband Ronnie of Aquilla; a sister, Polly Horn; grandchildren, Michael Ryno, Stacey Ryno, Julie Veselka and husband Mark, Scott Myers and wife Dani, Jeremy Myers and wife Wendy and Heather Huish and husband Jason; 14 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Aquilla Volunteer Fire Department or Prairie Grove Cemetery Association.
