Gary Lee Hough

December 2, 1954 — February 13, 2017

Gary Lee Hough, age 62, of Waco, passed away Monday morning, February 13, 2017 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Aderhold Funeral Home in West, with Rev. Curtis Holland and Pastor Duane Hoxworth officiating. Burial will follow at West Brethren Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 2:00 p.m. Saturday until service time at the funeral home. Gary was born December 2, 1954 in Monessen, PA, the son of Julia (Husenits) and Marvin Dale Hough Sr. He was a 1972 graduate of Monessen High School and then attended Central Texas College on the Ft. Hood Base in Killeen where he was stationed with the United States Army serving as a combat engineer before and after the Vietnam War. On October 25, 1986, Gary was united in marriage to Jana Darlene Foit in Waco. He was currently working in the Tire Sales Department of Sam's Club and started in June of 1986 for their Grand Opening. Gary previously worked for Gibson's Discount Center in the Temple, Killeen and Waco areas until they closed. He then worked for Dillard's Department Store in Waco where he met his wife Jana. He was a member of the West Brethren Church in West. He was also a member of the Citizens on Patrol and Neighborhood Watch in Waco, Amateur Radio Club, Weather Watcher and active with the Midway High School Band Backers. He was a volunteer for the Speegleville Fire Department and worked for several days as a 1st responder and traffic controller at the Mt. Calm Koresh Standoff. Gary was very active in his community and received a Letter of Appreciation from General Patton for assistance with the Heart of Texas Council of Boy Scouts of America and enjoyed being Santa for all of the kids in the area for over 20 years. He loved his bright orange VW Bug with shag carpet, his Juke Box collection and Cola-Cola memorabilia. He will truly be missed by all of his family and friends. Gary was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Marvin Hough. Survivors include his loving wife of 30 years, Jana Hough of Waco; a daughter, Leah Hough of Austin; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be the Sam's Club Associates. Honorary pallbearers will be the Speegleville Volunteer Fire Department. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Speegleville Volunteer Fire Department.
