Gary Foit

November 24, 1950 — October 24, 2021

Gary A. Foit, age 70, of Waco, passed away early Sunday afternoon, October 24, 2021 at Providence Hospital in Waco. Per Gary's wishes, private graveside services for family only, will be held at a later date. Gary was born November 24, 1950 in Waco, the son of Joe and Josephine (Barton) Foit. He was a 1969 graduate of LaVega High School prior to receiving an associate degree in applied science from TSTI in 1972. Gary was a member of the West Brethren Church. He was a seed processor for the Texas Department of Agriculture in Giddings for over 13 years. He also worked for Payless Cashways for 14 years, for McCoy's Building Supplies for 5 years and then for Mission Waco for several years before retiring in 2010. Gary always had a million stories. He never met a stranger, everyone enjoyed being around him. He was a southern gentleman and cowboy and enjoyed watching western movies, listening to country music, bar-b-queing, and watching college football, especially the Texas Longhorns. He was a very hard worker and was considered different, but never judged anyone else for being so. He was a gentle giant at 6'4" tall. Gary is preceded in death by his father, Joe R. Foit; his mother, Josie (Barton) Foit Harper; and his brother-in-law, Gary Hough. Survivors include his brother, Ronny Foit and wife Kathy of Chalk Bluff; his sister, Jana Hough of Waco; a niece, Leah Hough and husband Jaime Barrientos; his nephews, Luke Foit and wife Heather and Joe Foit and wife Shelly; and many great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends.
