Freida (Soukup) Burton, age 67, of Lancaster, formerly of West, passed away Monday, July 23, 2007 at Parkland Hospital in Dallas. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with Rev. Arthur D. Mallinson as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery near West. Freida was born September 17, 1939 in West, the daughter of Joseph and Anastasia (Sinkule) Soukup. She attended St. Mary's School and graduated from West High School in 1958. After graduation she attended 4-C Business College. Freida did clerical work for First National Bank of Dallas and Henson Printing Co. in Waco. She also worked at Macy's at the Galleria in Dallas before retiring in 1999. Freida's passion was taking care of her beloved cat, Oscar and her great-nieces Ally and Elise. She also enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and eating chocolate. Her parents and brother, Sam Soukup all preceded her in death. Survivors include one brother, Ed Soukup and wife Doris of Houston; two sisters, Mary Sybert and husband Bob of Lago Vista and Monica May and husband John of Lancaster; six nephews, Dr. Gregory Soukup and wife Megan, Mark Soukup, Joey Soukup and wife Maribel, Jason Williams, Brian Sybert and wife Vanessa, and Joshua May and wife Sadie; one niece, Kim Cuellar and husband Rich; great nephew, Gregory J. Soukup, Jr.; great nieces, Andrea Rains, Annette Rains, Ally Cuellar and Elise Cuellar; her cat, Oscar; other relatives, and many friends. Pallbearers are Gregory Soukup, Mark Soukup, Joey Soukup, Jason Williams, Brian Sybert, Joshua May, John May, Bob Sybert, Marvin Killingsworth, and John Rapkoch. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Parish Center.
