Frederick "Sandy" Taylor, age 83, of West, passed away early Sunday morning, February 7, 2010 at Providence Health Center in Waco. A rosary will be recited 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Aderhold Funeral Home, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Military Graveside Rites will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, conducted by West V.F.W. Post No. 4819. Sandy was born on October 8, 1926 in Waco, the son of Frederick and Hessie (Curtis) Taylor. He attended West schools and Hill College. Sandy served his country with the United States Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict, after 21 years he retired in 1967. On August 8, 1957, he was united in marriage to Leona (Hykel) Pustejovsky in Waco. Sandy worked for Texas State Technical College as an electrician until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. He was also a charter member of West V.F.W. Post 4819, American Legion Post No. 478, Elk's Lodge, and Fleet Reserves. He is preceded in death by his parents; his great-grandson, Nathan Spinks; two brothers, Paul C. Taylor, and Robert W. Taylor; and two sisters, Lois Hornak, and Patsy Ruth Valone. Survivors include his beloved wife of 52 years, Leona (Hykel) Pustejovsky Taylor of West; four sons, Albin Pustejovsky and wife Carol of Malakoff, Roger Pustejovsky and wife Debbie of Mertens, Leon Pustejovsky and wife Peggy and Freddy Taylor and wife Branna, all of West; a daughter, Joan Winters and husband Gary of Napa, CA; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Tyson Taylor, Derek Taylor, Brent Taylor, Jeff Pustejovsky, A.J. Pustejovsky, Mitchell Wood and Anthony Pustejovsky. Honorary pallbearers are Thomas Winters, Mary Pustejovsky, Angie Spinks, Tracie Griffin, Brandie Smith, Monica Nagley, Cynthia May, and Kaylann Wood. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
