Freddie Hutyra

Freddie Hutyra, age 84, of West, passed away early Tuesday afternoon, July 25, 2017 at his residence. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Thursday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel by Joe Pustejovsky, with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 28, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. David Trahan as celebrant. Military Graveside Rites will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, conducted by West Veterans Honor Guard. Freddie was born November 3, 1932 in West, the son of Willie and Mary (Nors) Hutyra. He attended schools in Abbott, West and Hubbard. On November 7, 1953 Freddie was united in marriage to Josephine Marie Kapavik in West. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, stationed in Ft. Hood. Freddie was a Plant Supervisor for Texas Prestressed Concrete for over 22 years, retiring in November 1993. He also worked for Woodrow Colley, Southern Toy Manufacturing and L.L. Sams Church Furniture. Freddie was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #478 and Disabled American Veterans. Freddie enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, camping and trips to Louisiana. He loved dancing and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. Freddie is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Johnnie Hutyra and William Hutyra. Survivors include his beloved wife of 63 years, Josephine "Josie" Hutyra of West; daughters, Diane Bekkelund and husband Bobbie of Clifton, and Sara Girard and husband Jerry of Abbott; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Hutyra, Georgia Kramer, Teresa Compton and Regina Kapavik; grandchildren, Amanda Nielsen and husband Brandon, Amelia Hegefeld and husband Cole, Joni Girard, Brian Girard and wife Anne and Becky McAdams; great-grandchildren, Madysen, Finley, Bentlee, and Wyatt; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Johnny Ray Hutyra, Michael Hutyra, Freddie Kapavik, Brian Girard, Brandon Nielsen, Frankie Kapavik, Patrick Sulak and Ronnie Kramer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Cemetery or Texas Home Health Hospice.
