Fred Owen, Sr.

Fred Owen, Sr., age 63, of Ross, passed away early Saturday afternoon, January 9, 2010 at Providence Health Center in Waco. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Msgr. Isidore Rozycki officiating. Burial will follow at St. Martin's Cemetery near Tours. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Owen was born May 13, 1946 in Freeland, MD, the son of Frederick B. and Maxie Pearl (Coble) Finger. After moving to central Texas, he attended school in Ross and graduated from West High School in 1965. Fred then attended T.S.T.C. before becoming a maintenance mechanic for Owens-Brockway Glass Plant in Waco where he worked for over 38 years before retiring in 2004. He was a member of the GMP Union Local No. 259. Fred enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include two sons, Chuck Owen and fiance Deloris Snyder and Christopher Owen, all of Waco; his girlfriend of 11 years, JoAnne Jones of Ross; a brother, Mike Owen and wife Annette of West; a step daughter, Deanna Macedo and husband Alfredo; his former daughter-in-law, Elaine Owen; four grandchildren, Craig Owen, Lauren Owen, Meagan Owen, and Ryan Owen; step granddaughter, Bailey Macedo; two nephews, Bill Owen and wife Katie and Brian Owen; a great niece and nephew, Alison and Andrew Owen; honorary grandchildren, Makayla, Jordan, Grace, Jaxen, and Jaren Roden, Zoe Jones, and Camryn Butler; and many other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Chuck Owen, Mike Owen, Bill Owen, Brian Owen, Chris Owen, and Vincent Hendrix. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Providence Hospice or the American Stroke Foundation.
