Frank L. Macicek, age 96, of West, formerly of Chatt, passed away early Friday morning, February 25, 2011 at West Rest Haven in West. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Monday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel by Janice Kaluza, with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Ed Karasek and Rev. Vincent Chacko as celebrants. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Mr. Macicek was born September 29, 1914 near West, the son of Henry and Emilie (Dvorsky) Macicek. He attended Cottonwood and St. Joseph's schools. On November 12, 1935 he was united in marriage to Martha Hutyra in West. Martha preceded him in death on December 6, 2004. Frank was a farmer for most of his life before retiring in 1978. He was also an insurance representative for the R.V.O.S. Lodge and owned and operated the Chatt Grocery Store and Service Station from 1946 to 1953. Frank was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption and a former member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, where he served on the parish council. He was also a member of the K.J.T., St. Vincent DePaul Society in Abbott, the R.V.O. S. Lodge, and served for 10 years on the Abbott School Board. Frank enjoyed playing baseball, taroky, yard work, mowing, picking pecans, visiting, and telling stories of the old days. Survivors include a daughter, Helen Reifein and husband Will of Dallas; two sons, Marvin Macicek and wife Janelle of Richardson and Larry Macicek and wife Charla of Houston; two sisters, Christine Matus and Elizabeth Hutyra, both of West; nine grandchildren, Marla Holcomb and husband Tim, Sharon Cortez and husband Tony, Amy Macicek, Donna Stacha, Mike Macicek, Mark Macicek and wife Erin, Scott Macicek and wife Michelle, Eric Macicek and wife Kathryn, and David Macicek; ten great grandchildren, Taylor, Haley Zachary, Savannah, Ryan, Luke, Reiley, Reese, Reagan, and Austin; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Mike Macicek, Mark Macicek, Scott Macicek, Eric Macicek, David Macicek, and Taylor Stacha. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church Building Fund or the charity of your choice.
