Frank J. Tichavsky

Frank J. Tichavsky, age 95, of West, passed away early Sunday morning, July 2, 2006 at his residence. A rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel by John and Michelle Mebane and family. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with Rev. Vincent Chacko, IMS, as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Mr. Tichavsky was born February 20, 1911 near West, the son of Frank and Agnes (Jarabek) Tichavsky. He attended Treadwell School in Menlow and St. Mary's School in West. On November 21, 1933 he was united in marriage to Mary Macha in West. They settled in the Abbott area, near Vaughan to raise their family. Frank was a farmer and raised cattle for most of his life. He also worked for Fleetwood Mobiles Homes for fifteen years until he retired in 1981. Mary preceded him in death on February 24, 1982. They were founding members of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott and presently Frank is a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. He is also a member of the K.J.T. Society No. 107 in Abbott and Czech Heritage Society. He worked as a volunteer at the West Senior Citizen Center for many years. Frank loved to work outdoors, planting flowers, grafting fruit trees, and picking pecans. He also enjoyed playing dominoes and helping his neighbors with yardwork. His parents; four brothers, John Tichavsky, Joe Tichavsky, Charlie Tichavsky, and William "Bob" Tichavsky; five sisters, Emilie Tichavsky, Mary Gerlich, Sophie Gerlich, Hermina "Minnie" Rabel, and Frances Cleveland preceded him in death. Survivors include four daughters, Evelyn Skopik of Waco, Mildred Bajer and her husband Ludvik of West, Dorothy French and her husband Bennet of Ross, and Joyce Petross and her husband Gene of Cleburne; two sons, Raymond Tichavsky and his wife Dorothy of Austin, and Harry Tichavsky and his wife Nancy of China Spring; 18 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; a very dear friend, Olga Hegar of West; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Pallbearers are Richard Skopik, David Skopik, Larry Skopik, Louis James Bajer, Calvin French, Allan French, Clint Tichavsky, Brock King and William Linc Campbell. Memorials may be made to West Senior Citizens Center, St. Mary's Parish Center or KJT Memorial Fund.
